In 1984, we met.
Danny (an "Italian Stallion" by Gabrielle's definition) spied Gabrielle (the most beautiful girl he ever saw)
in a church service at Smithtown Gospel Tablernacle in NY.
Seventeen days later we were engaged. And by 1986 we had moved five times and had a son.
In 1989 we moved to Louisville, KY from Long Island, New York with our happy toddler, Dan.
We quickly fell in love with Louisville, and made it our home.
One day we wanted pizza. We called our local pizza place to order "a pie". We were told they didn't
sell dessert. Pizza was a whole lot different here. No place to get a pie. No place to get a slice.
We really missed being able to go to the corner pizzeria, and chat with the guy behind the counter
while he stretched and tossed the dough. We missed that first bite of a piping hot, foldable slice.
We missed the feel of "the neighborhood".
Wouldn't it be great to bring our experience of "the neighborhood pizza joint" to our newly adopted
hometown?
The idea of Slice of NY was born. But so were four more sons. Danny worked as an aircraft mechanic
, and Gabrielle enjoyed homemaking and homeschooling the boys. But the idea of Slice of NY was
always there. The boys grew. It became a family dream.
Then one day, everything fell into place. Slice of NY was no longer a dream, but a dream come true!
So come on over for a taste of the NY neighborhood. Order a pie or a slice, or the best cannolis
you ever tasted. Hang around and chat while we toss and stretch our homemade dough.
Drop on by, Paesano. Let's catch up while we make you a fresh pie.
